The Chinese Teaching Center of NOCSH, established in 1989, has demonstrated significant teaching effectiveness. It helps new overseas Chinese students overcome challenges in learning Chinese and gradually adapt to an unfamiliar educational environment. Therefore, the Chinese Teaching Center is an indispensable and highly important institution for NOCSH.
The center was created for overseas Chinese students who intend to study in Taiwan but lack basic Chinese language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Upon admission, all new overseas Chinese students must take the school's Chinese proficiency test. Students who do not pass the test will enroll in a year-long foundational Chinese course, which includes basic bridging courses for high school subjects. Additionally, the language classes at the center are conducted in small groups of around 25 students, helping them adjust to the new learning environment. Students who pass the test will join either the junior high or senior high division of our school, according to the grade levels specified in the letter from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. Therefore, we strongly recommend that new overseas Chinese students have a basic proficiency in Chinese (equivalent to CEFR B1 level) before enrolling in our school.
We warmly welcome overseas Chinese students from around the world to come to Taiwan for their studies. At the Chinese Teaching Center, you can learn phonetic symbols (Zhuyin) and traditional Chinese characters. Here, you will learn the most authentic Chinese, experience Taiwan's rich and diverse culture, and feel the warm hospitality of its people.
If you have any questions regarding enrollment registration, please directly contact the Overseas Community Affairs Council, R.O.C.(TAIWAN).
Thank you!
